Captain Rick Gay
My career has been devoted to the marine industry. I am passionate about designing superior quality custom
installations for electronics and carpentry, as well as an array of unique enhancements to not only meet, but
exceed, each client’s expectations. I am also passionate about captaining clients’ boats and providing them with a
relaxing, enjoyable and memorable experience.
For over 45 years, my career has been dedicated to the marine industry. I began my career in Illinois, working for a small marine dealership at the age of 17. I was hired by one of the country’s elite, award-winning, Carver yacht
dealerships, where I was the sole electronics installer on new yachts, managed and operated over 300 boats
annually, as well as captained boats to and from marinas within Illinois and Lake Michigan.
I earned the opportunity to further my education and hone my skills in every aspect of the marine service industry — from the “ground up”....or, in marine terms, from the “hull to the bimini”, including gel coating, installing generators, air conditioning systems, bow and stern thrusters, hydraulic swim platforms, electronic and audio video installation, as well as gas-to-diesel conversions on 36-42 foot yachts.
Since 2011, I have worked for Marinemax as a yacht and electronics technician on large yachts, delivery captain,
trainer and support resource for other technicians, and was only one of two employees qualified to perform
custom installations, repairs, transportation and moving of larger yachts.
